2. Do a Walkthrough and Document Any Damage
Even if the property was inspected, it’s smart to do your own walk-through. Take photos and make notes of any existing damage or maintenance issues, and report them to your property manager right away.
3. Locate Important Shut-Off Valves and Breakers
Know where to find the water shut-off valve, breaker panel, and gas shut-off, just in case of an emergency.
4. Update Your Address
Don’t forget to update your address with the post office, your employer, banks, subscriptions, and any important contacts.
5. Meet the Neighbors
A simple introduction can go a long way. Knowing your neighbors helps build community and can even be helpful in emergencies.
